Connect Theatre

SAFEGUARDING POLICY

PURPOSE

Connect Theatre is committed to providing a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all participants, staff, and volunteers. This policy sets out how we prevent, identify, and respond to misconduct, including sexual abuse, molestation, or harassment.

1

SUPERVISION

Activities are conducted in open and respectful environments.

Employees and volunteers are expected to act professionally and avoid being alone in isolated situations with participants whenever possible.

2

SCREENING

All employees, cast members, parents and guardians, and volunteers are asked to confirm whether they have ever been convicted of a crime or involved in a lawsuit, claim, or charge against them related to sexual abuse, molestation, or sexual misconduct.

Connect Theatre reserves the right to refuse or end involvement if concerns arise from this process.

3

CODE OF CONDUCT

Everyone involved with Connect Theatre must:

  • Treat participants and colleagues with respect.
  • Maintain appropriate boundaries at all times.
  • Avoid behaviour that could be interpreted as harassment, exploitation, or misconduct.
  • Immediately report concerns or incidents to the Producers and/or the Board.
4

REPORTING

Concerns about misconduct must be reported promptly to the Producers.

Allegations will be referred to the proper authorities.

Reports will be documented and handled with confidentiality to the extent possible.
